The centre for academic leadership and educational management (CALEM), department of education, Panjab University and the department of computer science and applications recently organised a faculty development programme (FDP) on ‘Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning – Basics and Applications’. The event which will go on till December 28 will touch various aspects of AI. The speaker during the event stressed that AI needs attention from various disciplines to solve real life problems and fulfill India’s AI initiative. The inaugural session saw Prof Kuldeep Chand Agnihotri, vice chancellor, Central University of Himachal Pradesh, discussing use of machine learning. He said AI has increased tremendously in almost every field. PU VC Prof Raj Kumar talked about the importance of AI for society. He also discussed that artificial intelligence has lots of opportunities in the coming time. He shared that Panjab University has been actively conducting extension activities, webinars, faculty development programmes etc. and in future also such programmes should be organized to give the future directions to the researchers.
